Water as a Mode of Life

Water is the medium from which all life flows. As babies, we grow inside a water cocoon until we are ready to emerge into the Earth. Scientists say all life on Earth evolved from marine life as well. Whenever people are lost, the best piece of advice is to follow the water—you will eventually find others living life.

Water Is Healing

When I am near the water, I feel comforted. Staring at the limitless horizon on the ocean always helps me remember the countless possibilities for the life that lies ahead of me. When I feel ill, or my body has any kind of ache or pain, I can trust that the ocean will restore me. When I’m emotionally unwell, I know that a quick trip to the beach will give me what I need. A simple glance at the vast unknown, or dipping my feet in the water, is enough to reset my nervous system.

Water Sustains Life

Most life on Earth forms in a nourishing water shell that sustains us until we are ready to emerge into life. Every moving body of water contains life. Most of all, entire communities are built around water. Corporations have been trying to monetize water acquisition for years. I remember reading that we may be in a global water crisis as of this year.

Making a Living on the Water

It seems that since the beginning of time, people have used water to feed themselves and their families. My great-grandfather was a fisherman. He sustained his family’s life (and many other families) by providing riches attained through fishing—I’m talking about endless land and property in the Virgin Islands and beyond.

I hope to one day find my life on the water.
