Getting There

Discover Your Home Away from Home!

It is relatively easy to get to Magens Bay by car. I would not recommend walking. Trust me. Many tourists look at the map of St. Thomas and foolishly underestimate their journey. What maps do not show are hills and winding roads without sidewalks. Avoid the drama and sweat, and book a taxi straight to Magen’s or drive there yourself. Magen’s Bay has an entry fee for all visitors, so be prepared to pay.

Tips for Visitors

As always, be respectful of where you are visiting. Magens Bay is home to many natural plants and animals, and it is an ecosystem worth upholding. The mangroves sprawled around the beach are further evidence of the diverse species living at Magen’s. Walk with sunscreen, shades, and your typical beach attire. If you forget anything, there is a gift shop and restaurant near the entrance with almost anything you could imagine as well.

Personal Reflections on Magens Bay Beach

I grew up attending birthday parties and celebrations at Magens Bay, mixed in with days spent swimming and tanning in the sun. Similarly, I have seen Magens Bay change immensely over the years. With each passing hurricane, the beach seems to lose its muchness. The ocean is not as crystal clear as it once was, probably due to unsafe sunscreen pollution. Nonetheless, Magens Bay will always hold a fondness in my heart. It is one of the few beaches on the island maintained by an authority, ensuring this tropical paradise remains for years.
