Explore St John’s Stunning Beaches, Rich History, & Sunset Dining Magic

St John is consistently ranked among the top 10 places with the most beautiful beaches in the world. This tiny, breathtaking island in the US Virgin Islands is brimming with history, culture, and so much more! In fact, my family’s roots on Saint John trace all the way back to slavery times. Since then, this stunning tropical oasis has undergone immense changes. Here are a few recommendations to make the most of your St John trip.
Visit the Beaches of St John
I am not being biased when I say that St. John has some of the best beaches in the world! The sand is white and soft, and the water is crystal-clear blue. Some of my favorite beaches in St. John include Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay, and Maho Bay. Regardless of where you end up, you will face the reality that Saint John is one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
Tour Annaberg Ruins
The island of St. John has an abundance of history, influential not only to the United States and the Caribbean but also especially in the Virgin Islands. From the 1700s, enslaved Saint Johnians fought for the right to be free. These courageous heroes held several slave uprisings on the island to ensure that we could remain free today. Annaberg ruins offer a glimpse into their daily life and work on St. John during this time. A trip to St. John is not complete without visiting Annaberg ruins.
Enjoy a Sunset Dinner in Cruz Bay
Cruz Bay’s dining options are sure to make your trip unforgettable. While it’s always a great idea to dine here at any time of day, having dinner at sunset on the island’s most western end offers unbeatable views. One of my favorite spots in St John is Banana Deck. This restaurant has been a childhood staple, and it’s one of the few places offering delicious meals at reasonable prices on the island. Moreover, the portion sizes are generously satisfying.
