I am in constant awe of Beyoncé. My last blog post touched on how I experienced Beyoncé’s car malfunction during Houston night 1. I was so sure that she would never go back in the air. Well! Imagine my amazement at seeing that she had gone back in the air on a horse. Look at that horse! My God…
Ignore the critics
Shit, I am a critic of Beyoncés antics. I was scared af for her, myself, and everyone in attendance. I was sure she would never go back in the air or perform 16 carriages live again. I’m happy she defied my expectations. As artists, we must ignore critics. Truth be told, I love the horse more than the car! But maybe that’s my inner Sagittarius speaking.
We create our opportunities and limits
As I work through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron (shoutout to Doechii for the recommendation), I’m realizing how easy it is, as artists, to fall into the trap of believing that others can give us what we truly want. I am guilty of this belief! But!!! True art never needed permission or an abundance of resources. We learn to create from within and use our energy to propel us up and forward, like Beyoncé.
“Who wants that perfect love story anyway?” – Beyonce, Part II (On the Run)
Beyoncé and her courage inspire me to continue on my artistic journey. Yes, it’s messy. Yes, it’s unbelievably hard and scary at times. It’s okay if you lean on support or even return a bit sooner than expected. Take a moment to pause, breathe, reassess the situation, and try again.
