Uncover Water Island And Its Hidden Beauty And Secrets In The US Virgin Islands

Water Island is a place you truly have to see to believe. This hidden gem in the United States Virgin Islands is just a short 10-minute boat ride from Crown Bay Marina in St. Thomas. With its breathtaking lookouts, delicious quick eats, and stunning beaches, it is a destination worth visiting. Read on to discover why Water Island should be on your travel list.

How to Get to Water Island

To get to Water Island, take a ferry from Crown Bay Marina in St. Thomas. A round-trip ticket costs $10, and boats run hourly from 8 AM to 6 PM. The island is small enough to explore on foot in a day. However, if you prefer not to walk, you can use affordable transportation options. A free hourly taxi Safari runs from the dock to Honeymoon Beach, and you can also rent golf carts to explore the island more quickly.

Enjoying Honeymoon Beach

Honeymoon Beach is one of my favorite spots in the US Virgin Islands. It features beautiful white sand, crystal-clear blue water, and plenty of activities. Enjoying a meal at the Dinghy Beach Bar, followed by a sunset swim, is a perfect day in my book. The bar offers great options like conch fritters and the creamy dinghy, and you can also enjoy water sports such as jet skiing and snorkeling. Best of all, because Water Island is a bit off the beaten path, Honeymoon Beach is less crowded than many places on St. Thomas.

Tips for a Perfect Visit to Water Island

I’ve always cherished my Water Island experiences, and I hope you will too. To make the most of your visit, here are a few tips:

  • Bring a large tote or backpack for your essentials, including a beach towel, sunscreen, ice-cold or frozen water (which can melt during the day), snacks, waterproof shoes, and a change of dry clothes.
  • If you plan to rent a golf cart, carry a credit card for the incidental fee.
  • If you’re staying until the last boat, arrive at the dock a little early, as it can get crowded.

Enjoy your trip, and I’d love to hear about your experience on Water Island!
