“I’ll just get AI to build it”

And the cycle of slop continues. The reality is, every AI-built website or app I’ve seen from a non-developer reads that way, even if it ever comes to fruition. Yes, AI helps eliminate many barriers. However, many people underestimate the real effort technology projects require. On top of that, they often lack the resources to execute their idea as envisioned.

Why AI-Built Projects Become E-Waste

Worst of all? The project becomes a form of e-waste, its maintenance and upkeep abandoned once reality sets in. So, just pay developers.

AI Isn’t a Substitute for Investing in Your Business

AI has to be synonymous with cheap labor. Everyone wants a high-end project without paying high-end money. In fact, nothing makes me clutch my pearls more than seeing a business fully lean into the AI angle. First, second, and third: you refuse to invest in your own business — from marketing to product creation. You leave the human component out — then you want humans to support your venture? What an antithesis! After all, if everyone uses AI instead of paying artists for their work, how on earth can anyone afford to pay for anything?

AI Fatigue Is Costing Businesses Customers

AI fatigue is real, and it affects business. Nothing is more frustrating than expecting a human-to-human experience and getting an incomplete automated system that refuses to acknowledge outlier requests instead. It’s frustrating for the customer. Meanwhile, the business often has no way to capture real-time metrics on AI interactions. As a result, everyone loses out. Opportunities for connection and growth disappear.

What Ethical AI Use Actually Looks Like

What we need is ethical use of AI. I am not saying we have to completely abandon AI. It is here. It will stay. But what concerns me is the general public use surrounding AI. People are feeding machines their lives. In a digital age when attacks are growing in scale, consider what happens if your entire business leaks. All of your deepest, darkest fears, out there for anyone to read. I beg of you, please, triple-think before leaning into AI as a replacement for human connection. And stop leading with overconfidence that you can use AI to build your entire everything and that the general consumer won’t notice. We notice. And we’re disgusted and unimpressed.
